Candyland - The World of Sweets Board Game

Candyland - The World of Sweets Board Game Review

Candyland - The World of Sweets Board Game Feature

  • Classic game with updated graphics and sculpted, detailed pawns
  • Passing the peppermint forest and the ice cream sea on the way, the first one to reach the candy castle wins
  • No reading required to play
  • This is the classic "child's first game", and preschoolers will love it
  • Instructions are in both Spanish and English
  • Children draw colored cards, and move their plastic gingerbread playing tokens to the next square of the same color
"Once upon a time, King Kandy, the Imperial Head Bonbon and Grand Jujube of Candy Land disappeared." Thus begins the magical journey of Milton Bradley's classic Candy Land board game. Captivated by the story of a kidnapped king and eager to help find him, little ones move their gingerbread pawns along a rainbow path and through a land of candy characters, all subjects of King Kandy's realm.

Playing cards thoughtfully designed for non-readers are coded with colorful squares matching the jeweled stepping-stone path or an occasional token matching one of the characters' symbols: draw a blue card, move to the nearest blue stepping-stone; draw a snowflake and earn a visit to Queen Frostine's iceberg. There are occasional pitfalls, too: land on the wrong square and you might be stuck in Molasses Swamp until a red card is drawn. With all these enticing, sugarcoated images (and King Kandy plainly visible at path's end), children can't help but be delighted by Candy Land. It's delicious! Instructions are in both Spanish and English. Candy Land is for two to four players) --Julie Ubben This is the classic "child's first game", and preschoolers will love it. Children draw colored cards, and move their plastic gingerbread playing tokens to the next square of the same color. Passing the peppermint forest and the ice cream sea on the way, the first one to reach the candy castle wins. No need to read to play this game.2 to 4 players can play this game. This board game includes a game board, four plastic playing pieces, 64 cards, "Legend of the Lost Candy Castle", and instructions in English and Spanish.

Clue Mysteries

Clue Mysteries Review

Clue Mysteries Feature

  • 2 to 6 players.
  • Ages 8 and up.
Who stole Colonel Mustard’s pistol and where is the thief now? Who pilfered Mrs. Peacock’s diary and where can the culprit be found? In this spin-off of the enduring whodunit game, amateur detectives travel through the countryside of Hampshire, England, to answer these questions and more as they assist Inspector Brown in cracking 50 different cases. Players each receive a notebook of potential suspects, in which they can record important clues gathered on their journey around the board. Landing on one of the eight building spaces entitles players to question the character who resides there. Sleuths use one of the secret decoders (a mirror, a spyglass, or a location key) to divulge each character’s secret clues, which are hidden on rotating wheels that fasten inside the game board. To spice things up along the way, there are vehicle spaces that offer shortcuts, open road spaces that require players to draw a Clue card and follow its directions, and movable scene spaces that allow players to block opponents’ paths. Players may make accusations at any time, provided they are resting on the scene space where the offender is hiding. A correct accusation wins the game, but an incorrect guess sends the player out of the game and leaves the crime up to the remaining detectives. --Cristina Vaamonde With Clue Mysteries, you get all the usual suspects, plus six new characters - Rusty, Miss Peach, Lord Gray, Mrs. Meadow-Brook, Prince Azure and Lady Lavender. As armchair Scotland Yard Detectives, you can solve one or more of 50 compelling new crimes before this game is played out. Use your tool kit to decode and investigate each case. The secret mirror tips you off if anyone is lying. If you make the correct arrest, you've won!

  • Tread carefully and win in this classic game
  • Tap out ice blocks one by one
  • Take your time and do some thinking to keep the polar bear from sinking
  • To win, the bear must stay on top

And there goes another one. The polar bear is running out of room to skate. In Don't Break the Ice, two to four players take turns wielding plastic mallets and tapping out ice blocks. The goal is to keep the polar bear skating for as long as possible. But as the game progresses, ice blocks start falling faster and faster. And then, there goes the bear! Luckily, these ice blocks don't melt. The game can quickly be reassembled and soon the polar bear is skating again. This bear might lose his footing, but he's always got his smile. --Wendy Slotboom 3 years & up. Tap out ice blocks one by one, but Don't Break the Ice! To win, the bear must stay on top. Scrabble Crossword Game

Scrabble Crossword Game Review

Scrabble Crossword Game Feature

  • Word-forming board game
  • Score as many points as you can by forming words from the letters on the tiles
  • Bonus squares on the board give double or triple letter word points
  • Use all 7 tiles in your hand and score 50 bonus points
  • Perfect for Family Game Night events.
After all these years, it's still hard to get a triple word score, the tiles are still made of wood, and there's only one "X" in the whole box. The game of Scrabble has sparked feuds and a near-cult following. All the fuss is over a spelling game that hasn't had an upgrade in 50 years. It takes a little luck and a lot of skill to make high-scoring words out of seven little letters, sometimes with an overabundance of vowels and letters that don't go together--sometimes there's Q without U. Two to four players battle it out on the board, and while some players might be proud of impressive words ("I spelled gestalt!"), skilled players know how to use the premium letter and word squares on the 225-square board to their best advantage. This crossword game has strict rules (no names, no slang) and comes with a warning label: "Choose a dictionary first to avoid any ugly word disputes." --Lynne Sampson The classic crossword game played by millions around the world! Use your seven letters to build crosswords and use bonus spaces to add to your score! Genuine wooden letter tiles and racks. CHOCKING HAZARD - CONTAINS SMALL PARTS - NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3

Clues change, evolve, and stretch as each player adds to the scrolls. View larger.
Funny from the Get-Go
Fun from start to finish, Scribblish first requires each of the six players to choose a captioned card. Up against the clock, players must apply their scribbling skills as they each draw a picture to match the caption on their card. After the timer stops, players cover their images with their Scribble Scroll and roll the die to see who they'll pass their picture to.

From there, all players must write, draw, and interpret what they see on the card for each timed round. Figure out which picture leads to your original card, or get voted as having the funniest caption or image to gain points. The results are almost always hilarious and the game is wonderfully addictive.

A Built-In Element of Surprise
Thanks to the Scribble Scrolls, players will have to rely on their imaginations to win. Scribblish allows each person only one clue--either a caption or an image--to create the text or image to match what's on the card.

Much like in the childhood game of Telephone, clues change, evolve, and stretch further from their original captions as the players interpret what they see. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to turn this into that!

Two Ways to Win
You don't have to be Picasso to win this drawing game. Players can claim victory by correctly guessing which final image comes from their original card, or by being voted as having the best drawing or caption. Because each picture or comment is done by a different person, each player has an even chance of figuring out which scroll is theirs.

Players can reward the clowns and artists in the group by placing tokens next to the caption or image they like best.

What's in the Box
60 Scribblish cards, timer, six Scribble Scrolls, tablet of playing sheets, six-sided die, 12 tokens, and instruction booklet.

The hilarious scribbling game of "How did this become that?" Grab your pencils and get ready to giggle. Everyone chooses a caption and draws a picture. You all then take turns adding drawings or captions. At the end can you guess which picture was yours when you started? Which one is funniest? Vote for your favorite to win! Cranium Scribblish includes six scrolls, 60 cards, timer, pad, die, tokens and instructions. It also includes 2 cell batteries. It's for 4 to 6 players.
